Lia Burge Rogers

Lia is a writer, actress and poet. She is delighted to be a part of the Colomba community; researching, writing and sharing her ideas and insights as a nature-loving, people-studying, ever curious creative with a keen interest in health and wellbeing. When she’s not tapping away at a keyboard, you’ll find her walking the South Downs or chucking herself into the freezing English sea.

Growing up between London and the New Forest, in a largely artistic family, has afforded Lia a rich cultural and natural education – for which she is eternally grateful. Her fascination with the human condition began early. Impressions and makeshift shows forced upon anyone who’d listen, lead her (to nobody’s surprise) to train as an actor. In 2004 she was awarded a scholarship to LAMDA (The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art).

In 2010 during a considerable lull in acting work, Lia moved to Buenos Aires to teach English and study the Argentine Tango, which she had started dancing at 19. An extraordinary year lead to several further years dancing all over Europe.

Lia has written short stories and poetry for as long as she can remember, but it was the friendships she built in tango that lead her to her career as a content writer. Brilliant, entrepreneurial friends with English as a second language asked a favour, and then another. Realising her flair for writing was both enjoyable and useful, she decided to set up LBRwrites and build another freelance career into her life!

Lia’s acting career continues to be a slow, steady burn – despite the hard times (of which there have been a few!) she is proud of the quality of her work, the collaborations, and relationships she’s built with the very best in the business.

Lia now lives in Brighton, where her love of nature can sit happily with her love of the arts. In 2018 she started performing her poetry and is now part of an exceptional community of writers and performers. She was a 2019 Hammer & Tongue slam finalist and continues to write and perform in Brighton and beyond.
